The wall, Rahul Dravid, became the first player in the history of cricket to take 200 catches. This would surprise some because he is known more for his batting skills, records and techniques than fielding and catches. He took his 200th catch in the second test of the ongoing series in South Africa. Eventually the team went on to win the match and level the series 1-1. 

The third and final match of the series will be played next year and the match will decide the fate of the series. Right now India is ranked at top in Tests and South Africans are their immediate followers in the list.

Top 5 Highest Paid Actors in Hollywood for 2010

The Forbes has come out with a list for the top 5 highest paid actors for the year 2010 based on their earnings from movies, advertisements and television shows. According to Forbes Johnny Depp is the highest paid actor in Hollywood for the year 2010 with an annual gross income of $75 million. Following Depp is Ben Stiller with an annual income of $53 million. Then comes Tom Hanks whose income comes from different sources like production of television programs and movies. He has reportedly earned $45 million. Adam Sandler and Leonardo DiCaprio are at 4th and 5th places with $40 and $28 million respectively. DiCaprio's income is expected to raise in the years to come due to the recent hits from him like Shutter Island and Inception. Inception is the second best grosser for the actor after Titanic. Dipika Pallikal Wins Her Maiden WISPA Title

The 18 year old Indian Squash queen Dipika Pallikal defeated Emma Beddoes (Eng) with scores of 11-9, 11-8, 9-11, and 11-6 to win her maiden WISPA Indian Challenger squash tournament at Calcutta Racket Club squash courts. In the semi final, she defeated the top ranked Sharon Wee. Now Dipika is ranked 49 in among the world quash players. "I didn't have too many expectations before coming here. Nonetheless, it's truly a wonderful feeling to achieve such a feat," Dipika told reporters. Let's hope that she continues this brilliant form and take India to great heights in squash.

Pankaj Advani Creates History

Pankaj Advani of India made by becoming the first and the only person to win the Asian billiards title three times consecutively. Advani defeated  Peter Gilchrist of Singapore in the finals at the Yeshwant Club in Indore. He was not tensed and nervous that he was playing against  former world champion. Advani kept his composure and defeated  Gilchrist with the scores of 6-5 to get the historic hat-trick at the 2010 Asian  Billiards Championship.

India Wins Kabbadi World Cup 2010 Finals By Defeating Pakistan

India won the most awaited first edition of the kabbadi world cup against the Pakistanis in Ludhiana, Punjab yesterday. The scores were 58-24. Both the teams qualified to the finals after knocking out Canada and Italy from the tournament. In the semifinals, India defeated Canada with the scores of 57-36 and Pakistan defeated Italy with the scores of 57-33. The winning team (India) was given a prize money of one crore rupees for their performance in the finals while Pakistan took home 51 lakh. In the clash for the third spot Canada defeated Italy by a big margin of 66-22. Canada and Italy bagged cash prize worth 25 lakh and 10 lakh respectively.Apart from these prizes that the players received, the Chief Minister of Punjab has announced that the players would be given a government job.

We can't think of any language other than English to top this chart. The reason is English is the official or second largest spoken langugae in most of the leading economies and its the language which has got most number of websites on internet than any other language in the world. The second position is held by the country with the maximum population in the world. Not only because of population but also because of its literacy rate China is sustaining at the second spot. Tips to Search Effectively Online Using Google

We use the world's most popular search engine, Google, to search for different information on internet. But the question here is "How effective is our search ?". Many of us are still not aware of Google's "Advanced Search". I have listed here some of the tips that I came across on web. Beware of the tips' syntax given below. If you don't follow the syntax you won't find fitting results for your search. Here I have given the syntax of each tip within double quotes. Feel free to test the examples given below and write your comments if there is any flaw.

1. Find the local time of a place. Syntax: " time in place". Example: time in India.

2. Identify local weather of a place or city. Syntax: "weather place". Example: weather Delhi. It will give the current day's weather and also for three more consecutive days.

3. Exclude a particular word in search by using -(minus sign). Syntax: "word(s) -word". Example: Antivirus -free. This example will not list out the search results with the word free.

4. Include a particular word in the search results by using +(plus sign). Syntax: "word(s) +word". Example: Antivirus +free.

5. Replace search keyword with words that are same in meaning. Syntax: "words ~(word)". Example: Linux ~manual. Results will be displayed with Linux documentation, Linux manual, Linux Tutorials..etc.,

6. Match any single word in the search phrase by using *.  Syntax: "word(s) * word(s)". Example: Linux * Softwares.

7. Using the "OR" to search for either of the words. Syntax: "word(s) OR word(s)". Example: binary search program in C OR C++. Instead of the word OR you can use "|".

8. Definition of a term. The syntax is "define" followed by the word, for which you need the definition, in angle brackets(lesser than and greater than symbols).

9. Looking to buy a product within a price range. Then this tip would help you a lot. Syntax: "word(s) $10..$100". Example: Watch $10..$100.

10. You can use Google to find solutions to your mathematical problems. No particular syntax is available for math calculations. You type it as you use in maths and check the results. In fact you can use it as a scientific calculator. Example: sqrt(9), 5+9-7, 1000 - - 5 ..etc.,

11. Unit conversions using Google. Syntax: "unit1 in unit2". Example: kg in pound. Similarly you can try for other conversions.

12. Currency conversions can also be done with the help of Google. Syntax:"currency1 in currency2". Example: USD in INR.

13. Want to search only in a specific website. Then follow this syntax " word(s) site:site url". Example: Cricket site:http://yuviblogz.blogspot.com.

14. Do you want the search words to appear in the same sequence? Then type the search words within double quotes. Example: "install oracle in Linux".

15. Search for a specific file type. Syntax: "word(s) filetype:type-of-file". Example: Linux installation filetype:ppt.

Create, Upload and Add Favicon to Blogger Blog

This post explains the steps involved in creating, uploading and adding a favicon to your blogger(blogspot) blog. I tried many websites and blogs to add a favicon to my blog but failed many times. After struggling very hard, I finally collected information from different sources and I have put it together in this post. 

1.CREATE

Choose an image that you want to convert to a favicon. Choose one from  favicon.cc, converticon.com, or coolutils.com to generate your favicon. You have to first upload the image you want to convert to a favicon and then download it to your computer. With this creation of favicon is over. Remember, now your favicon is a .ico file that can't be uploaded to any photos or pictures hosting services.

2.UPLOAD

I found 110mb.com useful for uploading my favicon. Go to 110mb.com and there you have to fill two fields namely your website address (you are creating a site here, you should not enter the address of a site that is already available) and create a password. Now click on "Create Your Site Now!" button that is available below. Fill up the registration form that is available to activate your account. An e-mail will be sent to your inbox. Click the link in the e-mail to confirm registration. Now log in to your 110mb account with the user id and password. In the opening page after logging in you would get a page where you could see some site management tools. There you will find a file manager. Click on the blue arrow in the file manager. In the next page upload the favicon. Click on the favicon file that is listed in the page. It will open in a new web page. There you can copy the url from the address box. With this uploading is done.

3. ADD

Log in to blogger.com. Select design in the dashboard and go to edit html. Search for the title tag code that is shown below.

Now below this code paste the code that is given below. If you are unable to copy the code given below just type the two lines of code after the title tag.

Now replace the "Your Icon URL" in the above code with the URL of your favicon that you copied from 110mb.com. Save the template or take a preview of the template before saving it to check whether or not it works properly. Sometimes your favicon won't appear immediately. GmailDrive is a virtual drive that will be created in your computer under the My Computer folder which is  approximately 7.30 GB (I have mentioned it as approximate because it shows that much memory in my system). To activate GmailDrive in your system you should have a Gmail account and internet connection. You can get the GmailDrive software by clicking on DOWNLOAD. Install the software that you downloaded in your system. After the installation process is complete, you can see a drive named GmailDrive created under My Computer folder in your system. Now to open this GmailDrive you have to login with your Gmail user-id and password. After doing so, you can copy files anywhere from your system to this GmailDrive. While the files are being copied to the system you can see the files being delivered as attachment to your Gmail inbox. Do not delete the files from GmailDrive. Once you delete the data present in the GmailDrive the mails that you received as attachment will also get deleted. So before deleting the files from this drive make sure that you have sent the mails to intended person. If you want to back up these files permanently you can do so by just forwarding these mails to any of your other mail ids. As per a study conducted by the Ministry of urban development, Chandigarh emerged as the cleanest city in the country with a rating of 73.48 points for sanitation. Mysore, the second largest city in Karnataka, has been declared as the second most cleanest city in India. This rating was conducted on 423 cities in India to provide awareness and set a base line for cleanliness. These 423 cities had a population of more than 100,000. Benchmarks for the ratings were based on wastewater treatment, universal access to toilets to all including the poor...etc., The basic aim of the benchmarks were to protect the public from health hazards and to keep the environment clean. The rankings of the top 10 cities is given in the image. Click on it to view it in large size. Other smaller cities like Jamshedpur, Mandya and Bidar were placed among the top 25 because these cities were smaller and easier to manage. The only metro to show up in the top 10 was Delhi while Bangalore was placed at 12th spot. Chennai was at 13th place below Bangalore. Calcutta which is known as the dirtiest metropolis in India managed 25th place while Mumbai was placed at 45th spot. Obvously the cities at the bottom of the list were from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Global Scholar: Recruitment Process

Global Scholar has got only one of its branches in India and the others are based at United States. Campus recruitment process by them consists of three rounds: a written test, technical interview and a HR interview. The written test had three sections to be completed in 90 minutes. The question paper for the first two sections will be given together and you have to complete it in first 45 minutes. The third section is another 45 minutes.

The first section consisted of 10 aptitude questions based on probability, calculating the distance, time, people needed to complete a task..etc that you have in your aptitude book and some based on profit & loss. 

The second section had program snippets where you have to either debug or justify or explain the code. 

The third section (second 45 minutes) had 5 questions in which one was debugging and the rest were writing program for the given logic. One program was to print the given matrix in a spiral form. Then using singly linked list you have to check whether or not the input string is a palindrome. One was a game between two people for which we have to calculate the points of each player and print the winner. This was based on arrays. The last program writing question was also based on array. It was printing the input sequence of the array and then to print the sequence of ascending and descending order sub arrays in the main array. Remember you have to print all the sub arrays possible for the input array. 

In a nutshell you have to be strong in programming to clear the written test. I don't have any idea about remaining rounds. If you manage to clear the written test, be prepared to answer questions on data structures using Java and also try to gain knowledge about web services. All the information in this article is based on my experience and doesn't mean that the company follows the same procedure year after year when they come for campus recruitment. I thought of writing this because there is not much information available about this company's question papers on internet.

Jimena Navarrete is Miss Universe 2010

The results of the Miss Universe 2010 has been announced and Jimena Navarrete has won the title. She is just 22 years old and is from Mexico. This is the 59th year the competition is being held. She was crowned by last year's winner Stefania Fernandez who is from Venezuela. The second position was won by Yendi Phillipps (22 years old) who is also miss Jamaica. Miss Australia, Jesinta Campbell, was placed third in the competition. Last year too miss Australia was placed third. More than 80 participants from different countries took part. Apart from miss universe there were other awards like miss photogenic and miss congeniality which was won by Fonthip Watcharatrakul and  Jesinta Campbell respectively. The best national costume award went again to Thailand's Fonthip Watcharatrakul. The event took place in a grand manner in Las Vegas, United States.
