Young Princess Diana
Diana Frances Spencer was born on 1st July in the year 1961 and lived in this complicated world for only 3 years before she died in a car accident with her companion (Dodi Fayed) and car driver (Henri Paul) in the year 1997. She had divorced her husband, prince Charles, in the year 1996 before her death. She has two children prince William and prince Harry.

This lady though she lived for a short time in this world enjoys the prestige of being the most photographed person in the world. Many say that she never refused to show her face to the photographers unlike most of the celebrities do today. The photographers had the freedom to click her where ever she was seen like shopping, visiting the gym, and even when eating lunch.. etc., Even after her death in the year 1997 she still remains as the most photographed person in the history of the world.

India is the second largest populous country in the world next only to China. Here the country's most populous cities are given with their estimated population (not the urban agglomeration).

With a little less than 14 million citizens Mumbai stands out as the most populous city in the world. Next to it comes the national capital of the country (Delhi) which has a population of around 12.5 million. The population of New Delhi is not included to Delhi's population. The IT capital (Bangalore) of India is the third most populous in the list with only around 5.5 million citizens. The city attracts people from different parts of the country and people with different mother tongues can be found in the city. Kolkata and  Chennai are the other two cities in the list in the top five with 5.1 and 4.6 million respectively.

Including the top 5 cities in the country there are 43 cities totally with a population of more than 1 million.

Born in 1880 and still alive? This is the question that everyone is tempted to ask when we hear this news. Yes, Antisa Khvichava is the world's oldest person at present. She lives in a remote mountain village in Russia with her 40-year-old grandson. She recently celebrated her 130th birthday with her son, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and six great, great grandchildren.

While this is the story of Antisa Khvichava, there is another woman, Turinah, in Indonesia who claims that she is 157 years old. The woman still carries on with her daily activities on her own. She has the habit of smoking clove cigarettes. Though they are no proofs of her age but still officials believe that she could be 157 because her adopted daughter is 108 yrs old now. If 157 is her true age then she was born in 1853 when there were no telephones, cars, aeroplanes, and televisions. In fact the world wars din't happen at that time.

Though Holland has lost the recent world cup battle against Spain, it has got a reason to be HAPPY. The most happiest countries in the world are Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Holland. These countries are clustered together in the same region. Whereas the football world cup winner is placed in the 17th position among  the 21 European countries that were considered in the survey.

Many researchers feel that money is the object that drives most of the waking hours of a human being. Obviously  money can buy certain kind of happiness to mankind but can't be reason for the entire happiness in one's life. Ideed, Denmark, the world's happiest country, had a per-capita GDP of $36,000 in 2009, according to the Central Intelligence Agency. That's higher than 196 of the 227 countries for which the CIA collects statistics.

Jim Harter, a chief scientist at Gallup, says that "Each of us is two different people. We evaluate our lives periodically; we sit back and reflect and summarize things that have gone on in our lives to date". "Another side is how you experience things daily. Daily experience affects your stress and your psychology. How you evaluate your life affects your decisions. It's important to think about how you can leverage that well-being."

Last year there were 10 Americans in the top 20. Though the statistics and the list keep changing there wont be any change in the life style of the rich and the poor. Never forget the line "The rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer". These rich persons around the world can contribute towards erasing the problems like illiteracy, unemployment, poverty.etc., atleast in their own country to make this world a beautiful place to live in.

Do we live in a safe country? To know more about a country's safety read through the article. Global Peace Index(GPI) takes into consideration 23 indicators to assess the peace index of a country. Some of the indicators are number of external and internal conflicts fought, potential for terrorist attacks, level of violent crime, relations with neighboring countries..etc.,. The survey was conducted on 144 countries from the world and the GPI for the year 2009 is shown in the table below.

The table shows that New Zealand is the safest country in the world to live in and the least safest or dangerous being Iraq. Both, Norway and Denmark, are placed second in the table and they score very well in human rights and political stability. They also have the lowest scores on gender inequality. The lower the score, the more safer the country is. Iceland has got good scores in literacy and civil liberties while Austria gets fifth position due to its good score in democracy and education. Sweden is placed next in the rankings and the Scandinavian countries' scores are more or less similar in all areas.

Countries like Afghanistan and Iraq have bad scores in deaths resulting from conflicts, political instability, adult literacy rate, infant mortality rate, life expectancy..etc., In fact, the GPI indicates that the world is becoming less peaceful. If this trend continues then no country will be safer to live. So, what could be the solution for this problem? Here are some of the ways that have been suggested by UN to hold peace in the world  1) to reject violence, 2) prevent conflicts by addressing root causes, and 3) solving problems through dialogue and negotiation. Each individual can contribute towards world peace in many ways such as respecting the fundamental rights, showing no discrimination, casting vote to form a good government...etc.,. So as individuals let us do our duty and make this world a better place to live for the future generations to come.

To put it simple, the national animal, panthrea tigris, of India is at stake. If this problem is left unattended then we might see the extinction of the entire species in India. This is experienced not only in India but this is happening all over the world. 40000 was the strength of the Indian tiger population at the beginning of this century and don't be surprised to know that only 1411 tigers are present in India at present. Statistics say that in 2009 alone 86 deaths have been reported. With 37 tiger sanctuaries in India, about 17 of them are on the verge of tiger extinction.

The tigers in India are not only facing natural deaths but their lives are endangered by the human population. What we should do to save tigers? We should stop pouching tigers and also stop depleting the tiger habitats. If these two are avoided then the tigers will have a happy life out there in the forests.

How you can contribute to save tigers in our country? An awareness program has been started in India to stop pouching of tigers and depletion of their habitats. You can write about saving tigers in India in blogs like I have done or you can use twitter, facebook ..etc to pass on this message. Friends, if we neglect this for another 10 years I think we wont have any tiger left in our country and our country should have a different national animal.

People from different parts of the world have different opinions about the Valentine's Day. Some  believe that it is because of the person called St. Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to give up Christianity. He died on February 14, 269 A.D. Some people also  believe that St. Valentine left a farewell note for the jailer's daughter, who had become his friend, and signed it "From Your Valentine". Other aspects of the story say that Saint Valentine served as a priest at the temple during the reign of Emperor Claudius. Claudius then had Valentine jailed for defying him. In 496 A.D. Pope Gelasius set aside February 14 to honour St. Valentine. Then gradually people started exchanging gifts, cards, poems..etc., to show their love and affection towards their intimate ones.

Most of the people have a wrong opinion about February 14 that it is meant only for the young couples who love each other. They should also know that it is not only for the youngsters out there but for everyone in this world.
