Keeping in mind the growing number of cricket fans in Bangalore and also the capacity of the Chinnaswamy cricket stadium the government of Karnataka has announced that it would construct a new one in two years. The new ground would have a capacity of around 80000 seats which is double the capacity of the present one in the city. The chief minister of Karnataka announced this after the lathi charge incident that took place on Feb 27 when India faced England. Since there were no seat for many of the audience there was a big chaos which lead the government to make such a decision. The state government is looking for around 70 acres of land in the city to start the construction. Lets hope that the government officials make the necessary steps and bring it to realty soon.

Since the tournament takes place in the sub continent and the nearby nations the substitute players can fly immediately to the place, so its not a big issue with the squad.

The wall, Rahul Dravid, became the first player in the history of cricket to take 200 catches. This would surprise some because he is known more for his batting skills, records and techniques than fielding and catches. He took his 200th catch in the second test of the ongoing series in South Africa. Eventually the team went on to win the match and level the series 1-1.
The third and final match of the series will be played next year and the match will decide the fate of the series. Right now India is ranked at top in Tests and South Africans are their immediate followers in the list.

Virat Kohli is one of the promising young cricketers in India who is called as "the Rahul Dravid in making". Dravid, former Indian captain, is a living legend who is known for his batting technique throughout the cricket playing nations in the world. To replace Dravid in the batting order is not an easy task but this youngster is really promising. Like experienced cricketers, he shows a lot of patience and is composed in the field when Indian players are throwing their wickets at the other end. He has played over 30 matches now and is the fastest Indian cricketer to reach 1000 ODI runs in just 24 innings. So far he has two centuries and eight fifties in ODIs to his credit. He started playing first class cricket for Delhi in the year 2006. He also plays for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. He made his debut in international cricket against SriLanka in August, 2008. He was also the captain of the Indian under 19 world cup winning team. He has got a good average (over 45) in one day internationals. His fans expect that his talent would fetch him a place in the upcoming ODI world cup next year(2011) that will be hosted by the Asian cricketing nations.

The recently concluded ODI between Australia and India at home speaks a lot about the young talents in the present Indian cricket team. The 22 year old youngster, Virat Kohli, scored a fantastic century to put a lead of 1-0 in the India-Australia series that is going on in the home soil. In the absence of the seniors players like Sachin, Sehwag and Gambir, the youngsters (Raina and Kohli) came out with flying colours in the first ODI against Australia. This shows that India is full of young talents and it is the job of the selectors to pick the right combination for a match.

Kohli has an average of just under 45 in ODI. Now he has 1245 runs in just 32 innings. He has a strike rate that is above 80 which is not bad for ODIs. He is also called as the Dravid in the making. He plays alongside Dravid for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. Hope so he gets a place in the upcoming world cup in 2011 which is to be hosted by the Asian cricket playing countries.
