Anyone in the world would feel proud to be a owner of a car. So, what details do we look for when we plan to buy a new car? Most of us would look for better mileage, engine speed, what safety features it supports, and the list goes on till we are satisfied with the color of the car. Not to deceive you, I disclose at this point that this article doesn't give you tips how to go about buying a new car. This article is all about the largest manufacturers of car all over the world. The table below shows the sales of cars for different companies in the year 2009.

The table clearly shows that Toyota is the number one manufacturer and also as per sales. The second spot is occupied by General Motors which is very close to the first position. The table also shows other leading producers of car all over the world. According to one of the recent surveys conducted, Asian manufacturers are outperforming their North American, and many of their European competitors. Some of the experts in the automobile industry believe that economic crisis is a major reason why this down trend is observed in the North American and European markets. Let us wait and see whether this trend would reverse in the next calendar year.

For sure this news will leave most of the Maruti 800 fans and owners emotional. Yes, Maruti has decided to bring the curtains down on the production of Maruti 800. It is the second longest production, next only to Ambassador. It made its presence on the Indian roads way back in December, 1983. Since its launch 2,700,000 Maruti 800s have been rolled out till date. Because of technological improvements made to it since it's introduction, it was considered the most affordable, efficient and best in fuel consumption from the olden days. The first of it's kind was priced at Rs.48,000 and now it costs around 200,000.
There were many inclusions to it after its arrival in to the customer market. The first one was the introduction of air conditioner and music system in the year 198, but the original 796 cubic centimeter capacity of the engine remained the same from its introduction. The latest of its kind in the market has the capability to switch from petrol to LPG engine technology according to the driver's needs. It was considered to be the most reliable and durable car but there are many good cars (including Maruti's own Alto) priced at the same range in the present market making its future questionable. So, its time to bid adieu to the legend.
